Approach

I am known for my in depth knowledge of all subjects, as well as my ability to explain topics in numerous different ways to ensure my students/clients fully understand the material at hand. I am laid back by nature and my calm demeanor creates a supportive, non-threatening environment to learn. I teach math from a logical point of view. Throughout the years I have found that students rarely achieve, or maintain, a solid understanding of a topic if they simply memorize rubrics to solving each type of problem.

My approach is student centered, aimed at meeting each student where they are and how think. I encourage students to use the skills they already know to further their understanding of new concepts. By constantly using the correlation between topics they have already studied and topics they currently are learning, students are able to further solidify their understanding of previous topics, while being able to fortify a strong comprehension of the new material as well. In a classroom of 20 students, I would see students complete a single problem 5 different ways. It is my goal to adjust my instruction so that each student understands a topic in a way that works for them, instead of having them adjust to fit in a predetermined mold.
