Carl is a terrific math tutor! My son really loves Carl’s approach and always feels like he truly understands the concepts after a session with Carl. We highly recommend him!
Carl was a math teacher at my high school, and after he left and became a tutor I heard so many good things about him from friends who he had tutored, so I started working with Carl to improve my Math ACT scores. The first time I took the test, I got a 27 out of 36 on that section. After working with Carl once a week for a couple of months on strategies to help me recognize the different types of problems on the test, and then how to tackle them, I took the test a second time, and when the score came back I was shocked–a perfect 36. Carl’s approach of actually learning how to approach and tackle every type of problem, rather than figuring out the “tricks” of taking standardized tests (what you often find in the books) was incredibly helpful and effective, and I can’t thank him enough!
Carl has a relaxed way about him that puts the student at ease, which allows the student to fully understand the material. Carl breaks down the problem so the student can understand how to solve it. He helped my son over the summer to successfully skip algebra into geometry as a high school freshman.
Carl Horwitz was easily my favorite high school math teacher. His teaching style is simple and really helped me understand concepts quickly and easily. In addition, he is approachable and easy to talk to one-on-one. Carl was always available to give additional help whenever I needed it, even when I was taking a class that he was not teaching. I left his class with a solid foundation of knowledge that has helped me in all of my subsequent mathematics classes.
I looked forward to math class each day because Carl made is so enjoyable. His relaxed teaching style allowed me learn in a relaxing, fun setting. Each time I walked out of his classroom I understood the material and felt happy because of the fun environment Carl created. Carl did a great job simplifying the material and explaining it in a way that we could all understand. Carl not only taught me math, but also helped me grow as a student. Thank you for being such a great teacher.
Carl is the best math teacher I’ve ever had and made learning Pre-Calc fun and enjoyable. I appreciated learning math rooted in understanding rather than memorization, so thank you!
Carl is a great teacher. He teaches the material in a relaxed, but clear way that suits my learning style. He was always willing to help me if I was struggling with the material. He is patient and good at explaining concepts thoroughly. He understands that some sections are harder than others and is good about spending extra time on the hard stuff. Carl is obviously very familiar with all the material that he teaches and is able to answer any, and all, of my questions.
Thank you for your endless support and patience. I learned a lot- from math to myself. You were such a great teacher, role model and person to talk to. I learned so much from your class and could not have asked for a better calculus experience.
Thank you for such a wonderful year in math. You have been an incredible teacher and I have truly enjoyed coming to class and learning math this year. You have been the only math teacher I’ve had who was able to make math seem fun. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for all of your patience, encouragement, understanding and patience. Although math has never been my strong point, your willingness to work with me has made such a difference.
Thank you so much. I’m not much of a math person, and up until this year, Math was always my dreaded class. That was not the case this year! You created such a fun and laid-back atmosphere, but I still feel that I learned more math this year than any other. You are great at what you do and I know many other students feel the same way.
My son had the great pleasure to be in your class this year. He had a tough time in another math class and moved into yours with a somewhat bruised math ego, if there can be such a thing. After a short time in your class, I saw a great change in him. He had confidence again. You helped him to believe in himself and his ability to do math. Thank you. Please remember that you do more than teach math. You touch young lives and inspire them. You did it for my son, as I am sure you have done with many of your other students.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for teaching our daughters “absolutely favorite” class. We have two very different kids and for them both to appreciate you and your class immensely says a lot. Thank you.
